It’s time to celebrate the wonderfulness that is dad this Sunday. If you’re still tossing around what to do with your loved ones this weekend, we sourced out a few amazing and free events (yes, nothing is too good for our dads;) Check it out and have a wonderful, happy day.
Father’s Day Open House at the Historic Stewart Farm
Float your boat and get on track! See large scale train displays from the Greater Vancouver Garden Railway Club on the scenic grounds of the Historic Stewart Farm. Discover the boating world of Surrey today and long ago. Make a train or boat craft and relax on the veranda with coffee and lemonade. For more information visit the City of Surrey Website
Car Free Day
Car Free Day exhibits the vibrancy of Vancouver’s diverse neighbourhoods and draws on the creative energy of neighbours to remake local roadways as places of art, culture and sociability. The festival sites reclaim traffic thoroughfares as community-focused public spaces, allowing residents, artists, performers, artisans, non-profits and businesses to interact, engage and re-imagine spaces normally reserved for vehicle traffic. For more information and list of festivities visit www.carfreevancouver.org
Watch The World Cup
If you plan on heading to the Car Free Day Festival… pop into a local restaurant and watch a little World Cup. Here is a list of top places to catch a match in Vancouver. Also a great excuse to buy dad a beer… he deserves it:)
Family Fishing Day
North Vancouver’s Rice Lake is hosting a Family Fishing Day on Father’s Day that includes a free fishing license, a chance to release rainbow trout into Rice Lake, a wild salmon barbecue, prize draws and more! They even have fishing tackle on-site if you need it.
Make him a Special Meal
You don’t have to go and spend a lot of money at a fancy restaurant… take the time to plan out a nice meal or BBQ at home and spend some good old-fashion time with the family.
