Commercial Underwriting Assistant+

About the role:

As a Commercial Underwriting Assistant at Schill Insurance you will provide the highest level of service to our Clients, Brokers, and Team; and take advantage of opportunities that enable you to go above and beyond their expectations.

Responsibilities:

The Commercial Underwriting Assistant will provide administrative assistance to the Commercial Lines Underwriting Team. Below are the basic key duties for your position which include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of renewal quotations in advance of the renewal and new business for quoting
  • Process insurance policy renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and new business of inhouse policies through Policy Works and Epic
  • Preparation and issuance of binders, updates to certificate holders (as required), and newly required certificates of insurance for external parties
  • Articulation of incoming emails and proactive review, determination of needed actions, and to complete or send to the underwriter as appropriate
  • Review policy documentation for accuracy
  • Enter, update and maintain accurate policy information in Policy Works and Epic for each insured, and invoice policies
  • Support the Underwriting team with general administrative tasks
  • Promptly respond to broker inquiries and return phone calls in a timely manner
  • Assist with answering telephone calls professionally and promptly, within two rings, and direct them to the appropriate person or their voicemail, after offering to help personally
  • Provide support to other departments or general office duties during vacation periods
  • Additional duties, assignments, and special projects as may be assigned by the Manager

  • Process policy renewals, endorsements, and cancellations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Proactively contact insureds regarding renewal increases and re-market as necessary to meet the client’s needs and retain their business.
  • Acquire, maintain and upgrade technical skills and personal knowledge of insurance products. 
  • Maintain up-to-date client records in EPIC, recording pertinent conversations, etc. so that co-workers may access the information to better serve the client in the future.
  • Creates abeyances for outstanding underwriting items, coverage gaps, and client requests.
  • Collect agency bill premium amounts and once payment is received in full issue a policy to the insured.  Maintain zero accounts receivable.
  • Produce written client correspondence professionally and in accordance with the guidelines of Schill Insurance. 
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with external groups, such as company underwriters, The Insurance Council, and The Brokers Association.

Claims Manager+

Schill Insurance Brokers is looking for Claims Manager in our Surrey (Guildford) location.

About the Role

When the unexpected occurs in the lives of our clients, Schill Insurance is here to ensure they will be back to life as usual as quickly as possible. The role of the Claims Manager is to oversee the claims process and ensure claims are handled efficiently, accurately, and professionally. Bonus… this is a Monday-to-Friday position – no weekends or evenings!

Responsibilities

  • Perform full cycle claims handling and adjusting including gathering loss details, assisting in determining coverage, and, if required, placing the claim into the market. Arrange emergency restoration services using a preferred vendor if needed.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, accurate, and fair claims advocacy to all customers for Personal and Commercial Lines policies.
  • In the event of a dispute, work with the customer, company adjuster, and preferred vendors to determine the best way to resolve the claim. If needed, assist the insured in the dispute resolution process.
  • Maintain detailed file records by promptly entering pertinent data into the appropriate systems and set activities to follow up with the client throughout the claim to ensure the loss is being handled and moving forward appropriately.
  • When the claim closes, contact the insured to discuss mitigation opportunities.
  • Examine losses under our in-house programs ensuring approved independent adjusters, restoration companies, and legal companies are engaged as needed. Monitor claims progression and communicate with Lloyds of London as appropriate.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for subrogation.
  • Collaborate with retail brokers and underwriting team members, occasionally attending strata annual general meetings or other client meetings. Provide education and guidance with respect to claims and application of coverage. Share knowledge regarding trends in the marketplace and portfolio.
