What’s Included in Home Warranty Insurance

New homes built in British Columbia are protected by 2-5-10 home warranty insurance, as set out by the Homeowner Protection Act of BC.

Your new home’s mandatory warranty insurance includes the following:

Coverage within  the first 2 years on labour and materials

12 months coverage for defects in material and labour for your unit</li>

15 months coverage for defects in material and labour for the common property in a multi-unit building

24 months coverage for defects in material and labour for major systems (eg. heating, electrical, and plumbing)

5 years coverage on the building envelope, including coverage on unintended water penetration

10 years coverage on major structural items
